Step 2: Clean and Prepare the Fresh Data

Open the Fresh Data: Open the newly received data in Excel.

Identify Inconsistent Headers: Identify the inconsistent column headers in the new data.

Create a Mapping Table: Create a mapping table in a separate worksheet. In this table, list the inconsistent headers from the new data in one column and their corresponding consistent headers from the previous data in another column.
Step 3: Use Excel Formulas
VLOOKUP Function: Use the VLOOKUP function in Excel to map inconsistent headers to consistent headers. For example, if the inconsistent header from the new data is in cell A2 of your mapping table and the corresponding consistent header is in cell B2, you can use the following formula to replace the inconsistent header in your new data:

Drag this formula across the cells with inconsistent headers in your new data. This will replace inconsistent headers with consistent headers from the mapping table.
Step 4: Update the Column Headers
Replace Inconsistent Headers: Use Excel's Find and Replace feature to replace the inconsistent headers in the new data with the consistent headers obtained from the VLOOKUP function.
